The XXXVI Rally Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy was presented this morning
In the “hot” of the registration period (deadline September, 11), the race was presented this morning at the historic headquarters of the newspaper "Il Tirreno" on Viale Alfieri in Livorno.
The common intent is to continue networking between the organization and the territory, between public and private sectors, to carry forward a history that is not only sporting but also serves as an important identifier for the Island of Elba.
Confirmed for Thursday, September 26, in Capoliveri is the important conference "The New Frontiers of Tourism," with a clear reference to the strategic importance of the rally for the sector.
Livorno, September 3, 2024 – The countdown is on for the challenges of the XXXVI Rallye Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy, scheduled for September 27 and 28.
The race was presented this morning at 12:00 PM in the auditorium of the headquarters of the newspaper Il Tirreno at its historic location on Viale Alfieri in Livorno, one of the symbols of the city.
The competition is the seventh round of the FIA European Historic Rally Championship and the seventh of the Italian Historic Rally Championship (CIRAS). Alongside these, the inevitable "Graffiti" event will also take place, which will serve as the seventh of nine rounds in the Italian Historic Regularity Rally Championship.
NEWS FOR 2024
The event is confirmed to take place at the end of the summer, as usual, a timing that helps extend the tourist season on the island. The rally, strongly supported by local administrations, returns to the international stage with some changes.
The biggest change concerns logistics: it will move to Lacona (in the municipality of Capoliveri) to the exclusive location of the Uappala Hotel Club Lacona, where will be located the race headquarters, registration office, and press room.
Within its functional facilities, participants will receive race materials, and pre-race sports and technical checks will be carried out, optimizing time and avoiding unnecessary travel. Additionally, the hotel's seaside parking area will host the first two regroupings and the park fermé at the end of the first leg. Meanwhile, as in the last two editions, the service park will be located in Capoliveri on Viale Australia and nearby parking areas.
THE SPORTING ASPECT
The two race legs have been designed with tradition in mind, a "classic that never gets old." The challenges will undoubtedly be of a high technical level, maintaining the high quality offered in past years. A total of 10 special stages are planned over two days, with optimized schedules and routes to minimize disruption to the territory. The first leg will cover the western part of the island, while the second will cover the eastern part. This route design is reversed compared to previous years. The second special stage, the "Marciana Marina-Marciana-Campo," is introduced for the first time in the historic rally after being proposed in April for the "modern" rally. The classic "Monumento" stage will be run in the opposite direction compared to 2023.
IN MEMORY OF ANNA PUCCINI
The second leg will be marked by the dedication of SS 6-9, the "Innamorata" also a classic, to Anna Puccini, the unfortunate young girl from Elba who passed away prematurely in November 2022. Anna was a great rally enthusiast, particularly of "her" rally, and the biggest fan of elban rally drivers. It was only fitting to remember her affectionately by dedicating one of the iconic stages of the race to her.
The total competitive distance will be 133.580 kilometers, the total length is 367.880 kilometers.
THE CONFERENCE ON SEPTEMBER, 26 IN CAPOLIVERI
The Elban competition, which has been split for years into the "modern" rally in spring and the "historic" rally at the end of summer, is not only about sports and challenges but also serves as an important vehicle for promoting the territory and providing economic incentives for the tourism industry. For this reason, a conference titled "The New Frontiers of Tourism" will be held on Thursday, September 26, at 11:30 AM in Capoliveri, just before the race. The conference will feature discussions, ideas, and perspectives on tackling the new challenges in the sector aimed at guiding its sustainable development, offering innovative perspectives as the rally does. It will be an important moment of reflection and dialogue with various actors dedicated to the promotion, enhancement, and communication of the territory.
OTHER VALIDATIONS
In addition to the European validation and the two Italian titles, there will be other "promotional" validations, such as the A112 Abarth Trophy, the Memory Fornaca, and the Michelin Historic Rally Cup, as well as the ACI Livorno Social Championship.
LIVE STREAMS
The competition will be live-streamed, with direction by the SportCultura.tv structure and support from ACI Sport. The schedule is currently being defined and will be announced once approved.
