XXXVI RALLYE ELBA STORICO-TROFEO LOCMAN ITALY FOR LOMBARDO CONSIGLIO (PORSCHE)

Capoliveri (Isola d’Elba-Livorno, ITALY) September 28, 2024 – The sicilian crew composed by Angelo Lombardo and Roberto Consiglio, with their 2nd category Porsche 911 RS, won the XXXVI Rallye Elba Storico-Trofeo Locman Italy, two intense days in the magnificent landscapes of Elba.

The Lombardo and Consiglio's victory was secured in the final two stages of this seventh round of the European and Italian historic car championships, overtaking the ever-brilliant Alberto Salvini and Giacomo Tagliaferri, also with Porsche Carrera RS.

The crew from Siena had taken the lead from the final stage of the first day, the night stage in Capoliveri, overtaking the renowned Lucio Da Zanche (Porsche 911 RS), co-drivered by Daniele De Luis. The crew from Valtellina, who had won on the island's roads last year, initially took the lead but later fell behind and had to withdraw after the night regrouping between the two legs due to oil loss caused by a damaged pipe.

Salvini then took the lead, but Lombardo decisively launched his attack, recovering 22.3 seconds over three stages today. He then took the lead in the penultimate special stage and sealed his victory with a masterful performance in the final contest, the long "Volterraio-Cavo", 27 hardest kilometers, where he set an impressive time, widening the gap on his rival by 32.2 seconds.

Lombardo and Consiglio, with their red Porsche, won the 2nd category, Salvini finished in second place, and another driver from Siena, Valter Pierangioli, finished in third overall with great merit. He was co-drivered by Arianna Ravano in a Ford Sierra Cosworth 4x4. It was a top-level race for the driver from Montalcino, who also won the 4th category, confirming his high level of performance, which he aims to maintain in the final two continental rounds in Sanremo and Acropolis, Greece.

Fourth place overall for Andrea "Zippo" Zivian, with Nicola Arena with Audi Quattro. "Zippo" opted for a conservative race, focusing primarily on the continental standings without taking unnecessary risks that could have led to misfortune. His careful approach still allowed him to win the 3rd category and collect valuable points for the continental championship.

The overall top five is completed by Hungarian Tibor Erdi Jr., with another Ford Sierra Cosworth, in crew with Croatian Zerek. They were the first foreign crew to cross the finish line in Piazza Garibaldi in Capoliveri, with a solid and consistently top-level performance.

In the 1st category victory by Giuliano Palmieri from Modena, with Lucia Zambiasi in a Porsche 911 S. The early skirmishes in the first stage had put their long-time rivals, Antonio Parisi and Giuseppe D'Angelo, with a similar car. However, they were sidelined after four stages due to mechanical problems and later rejoined the competition under the re-entry rule, as allowed by the regulations.

Several top drivers were unlucky on Elba's roads this year: Matteo Musti, Porsche, co-drivered by young Simone Brachi, broken the gearbox. Sicilian Natale Mannino, co-driven by Giannone (Porsche), went off the road during the fifth special stage. The tuscan from Lucca Giovanni Mori, with Frosini in a BMW M3, also faced difficulties, having to retire in the first stage due to a broken wheel hub. He rejoined the second leg but out of classification, though he consistently set top ten times afterward.

In the A112 Abarth Trophy, double victory for Dall'Avo-Piras.
